In Indonesia, 21.92% of sampled conversations were matched to education & learning tasks. In Korea that figure is 11.21%.
What the data says about Indonesia
The number that stands out in Indonesia’s data is not the usage index itself — 0.46, at rank 86 of 121 — but what fills the conversations. 45.88% of conversations matched to coursework or learning tasks, nearly three times the global share of 16.45%. Someone assuming a simple ordering where richer countries lead on everything would not predict this: on Education & Learning as a request topic, Indonesia runs at 21.92%, against a global average of 13.23% and Korea’s 11.21%. That is a 95.5% higher share than Korea, a country whose index of 3.78 is more than eight times Indonesia’s. The volume per capita may be smaller, but the shape of the demand is unmistakably oriented toward learning.
What this plausibly reflects is that people reaching for these tools in Indonesia are often doing so to understand something — to work through material, get explanations, build skills — rather than only to produce output. That is a guess about usage, not about who the users are; the data describes conversations, not people. But it is consistent with the rest of the picture. Content Creation & Copywriting is the single largest request topic at 32.06%, well above the global 22.72% and Korea’s 27.3%. Document Processing & Extraction, at 6.41%, runs about 48% above the global share. Conversations matched to educational instruction and library job tasks sit at 18.18%, against 12.79% globally. Together these suggest a usage mix weighted toward writing, teaching-shaped material, and turning documents into usable text.
It is also worth noting where Indonesia does not trail at all. Conversations matched to software development tasks make up 11.4% of the sample — essentially identical to the global 11.51%, and ahead of Korea’s 10.42%. The split between automation-leaning and augmentation-leaning use, 47.51% to 52.49%, sits almost exactly on the global balance of 48.62% automation. None of this looks like a peripheral pattern of use; it looks like the same tool being put to a somewhat different, more learning-heavy mix of work.
The 29.41% of conversations matched to work tasks, against a global 43.36%, is the mirror image of that learning share. One reasonable reading is that many conversations are about building capability rather than completing a task on instruction — and capability compounds. Conversations that look like learning software development, content production, or document handling are building exactly the skills that turn into shipped products.
That is where Seunghan fits in. If your conversations are starting to look like real projects — an app you want to ship to the App Store or Play Store, an AI agent or MCP integration you are wiring up, a backend with authentication that needs to hold up under real users, or a mobile build that has to be reliable — that is precisely the kind of free, informal help on offer. Bring the thing you are building, wherever it is stuck.
