What the data says about Brazil

The number that would surprise anyone assuming a simple rich-country/poor-country ordering is 57.35% — the share of AI conversations from Brazil that are work-related. The global figure is 43.36%, and Brazil’s Anthropic Usage Index of 0.96 sits far below Korea’s 3.78. A naive reading would predict lighter, more casual use. The data shows the reverse: conversations from Brazil skew heavily toward getting work done, more so than almost anywhere else in this dataset. Coursework-like conversations, meanwhile, run at 11.52% against a global 16.45%, which reinforces the same picture from the other side. One plausible interpretation — and it is a guess from a single snapshot — is that usage in Brazil is concentrated among people who have already integrated these tools into their working day, rather than spread across casual experimentation.

The software numbers make this concrete. Conversations matched to software development tasks account for 14.76% of Brazil’s sample — 28.2% above the global 11.51%, and 41.7% above Korea’s 10.42%. This is not a marginal edge; it is one of the categories where Brazil plainly leads the country with the highest usage index in the world. Content creation and copywriting is the single largest topic at 27.98%, also ahead of Korea’s 27.3%. On the other side of the ledger, research and intelligence sits at 7.58%, a full 30.7% below the global 10.94%, and educational instruction and library tasks run 25.6% under the global rate. Read together, the pattern is consistent: conversations from Brazil tilt toward producing things — code and content — and away from research-flavoured or instruction-flavoured requests.

The automation split adds one more layer. Brazil leans automation at 51.18% versus 48.82% augmentation, while the global balance tips the other way at 48.62%. Paired with management-matched tasks running 25.4% above the global rate, this suggests conversations where people delegate whole chunks of a task rather than iterate step by step with the model. To be clear about what this data is: it counts conversations matched to job tasks, not jobs, employers, or the people typing. It says nothing about who anyone is.

What it does say is that the usage profile from Brazil is practical, output-oriented, and unusually heavy on software.
